I met her a couple of times in Vivian's shop, 78 - 79. It was called Seditionaires by then. I remember I was wearing a 'What do you mean you don't like Adam and the Antz tshirt and I had a great chat with her about how great they were. Jubilee does capture the Antz early days looking and sounding just amazing.

I can tell you that Adam & the Ants reached me in suburban Bergen, Norway in the early 80's. I distinctly remember writing a dissertation on the band for my english class, having to confront my teacher for correcting the spelling of their debut album from "Dirk wears white sox" to ..."socks". And the time the woman in the record shop where I was purchasing Prince Charming called the band "Adam & the Aunts". Guess they weren't part of the Ants Invasion. I sure as hell was.

When I first watched top of the pops at age nine Adam and the Ants were number one with stand and deliver. I was completely and utterly gobsmacked and bowled over. It was so exciting. However Adam Ant gets my vote as someone in my fifties too. Not only do I still adore his music but I think he is really really great the way he has spoken up about the issue of bi-polar disorder. And also that if someones life is becoming insufferable through mental ill health their first point of call is their general practitioner. That person both knowing a good deal about mental ill health but also being a gate keeper to the services in the community the mentally ill person may find really helps them.
